Monday, June 4
$8 - 8pm
Opening: The Kickback, The Van Goghs
Toronto indie pop band, Zeus return to conquer Chicago following the release of their sophomore album, Busting Visions. Their brand of classic pop meets rock is an absolute blast live, and is more than worth heading out on a Monday night for.
Wednesday, June 6
$12 - 9pm
Opening: The Darcys
We would be way more upset with Brent Knopf leaving Menomena if Ramona Falls were not so damn good. The swirling orchestral layers that erupt through the speakers is brilliant on the project's sophomore album. We caught Ramona Falls back when they were supporting 2009's excellent Intuit, and the looped soundscapes translated great live. The fact the you can catch them at Schubas makes this must-see show our pick of the week.
Thursday, June 7
$10 - 9pm
Opening: StarTropics
Fuzzed out layers of indie rock goodness and Schubas go together like peanut butter and chocolate, so Porcelain Raft hitting one of our favorite small stages in the city is about as perfect a marriage as you could want.
Friday, June 8
$20 - 7:30pm
The former background singer for Damien Rice has become quite the accomplished singer-songwriter in her own regard. Hannigan's two excellent solo albums show are great listens, and we can confirm that she is fantastic live - having seen her years back at the tiny Martyrs.
$12 - 9pm
Opening: Young Distractions
One of our favorite local bands is playing one of the better small venues in the city. AM Taxi is an excellent pop-punk outfit that delivers hooks and guitar riffs in spades, and is an absolute blast live. With a few years since their debut, we have to imagine they will have a few new tracks up their sleeves. Even if they don't, just getting to hear their killer cover of The Rolling Stones' "Paint It Black" is more than worth the price of admission. With a rabid following, it is easy to imagine this show selling out, so grab your tickets early.
$17 - 9pm
Opening: Turbo Fruits, Scott Lucas & The Married Men
This is a rare case where we are telling you to head out to catch the opening act. Local H's Scott Lucas is in town with his side project, hot off the heels of their great sophomore album (out June 5th). Their brand of folk-influenced rock is a gorgeous listen on album, and we have to imagine that it will transfer extremely well live.
Sunday, June 10
$50 - $85 - 7:30pm
Opening: Caribou
It seems a little strange that there were still tickets available for this when we last checked. $50 for a lawn seat to see one of the best bands on the planet seems like a steal to us. There's not much we can write about the band that has not already been said. Just know that their brand of stellar brand of indie rock goodness is Jump on these before they go away.
