Wintersleep: Hello Hum Review

The fifth album from, Canadian indie rockers, Wintersleep is a dazzling set of stadium-ready guitar-fueled rock. Songs like "Zones" erupt out of the speakers with authority, with the towering vocals of Paul Murphy slicing straight through the pulsing riffs. Nimble fret work poking through a steady wash of riffs on "Resuscitate" and needling guitar gnawing its way through Murphy's oozing vocals and a sturdy blend of drums and thick bass line on "In Came The Flood" make for exhilarating rockers. For all the charged up rock, like the wildly jangling blend of riffs, piano, and soaring hook of "Unzipper", the album proves equally compelling on chilled acoustic ballad "Saving Song" and marriage of caterwauling vocals and swaying guitars on closer "Smoke". On their latest, Wintersleep prove to be kind of band you should catch at the smaller venues while you still can.
