The post-punk yowl and wiry guitar layers of Paul Saulnier and explosive drumming of Benjamin Nelson make for enthralling listening on the Kingston, Ontario duo's sophomore album. The cascading waves of guitar and Saulnier's emotional, almost formless, wailed pleas ride a steadily driving beat as Nelson lends backing vocals to the amazing "Don't Go". The duo slowly build a jittery wall of distortion, then clear way for an addictive hand-clap beat and drizzled riffs for one of the album's many bright spots. The carelessly melodic guitar of "Future Dontcare" flails for life in a sea of distortion, as the duo's impressive layers of sound are accented by Saulnier's raw, crazed vocals and the Nelson's beats assaulting the speakers. The splashy guitar and ticking beat of "How Do You", strutting snarl of "Red Quarter", and fantastically melodic guitar solo of "Saskatoon" deliver the hazy goodness of PS I Love You's sophomore album brilliantly.
